Hometown Support Strong For Injured Denver Cop
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - John Adsit is now known widely as the Denver police officer injured during Wednesday's protests by East High School students.
But at the Douglas County Dolphins, he is simply Coach or Dad.
"He's a big asset to the kids and to the community here," Erin Case with the D.C. Dolphins said. "He is selfless and he really is looking out for the best of the kids, not only to teach them to be athletes but to instill character in them."

Adsit and his family have been involved with the nonprofit youth athletic club for several years. His daughters have participated in cheerleading, and Adsit has coached his son in football and basketball.
The news of his accident has left the town reeling.
"It's kind of turned Castle Rock upside down because he is so well-known here," Case said. "We love you so much, and we're thankful of everything that you've done for this community."
Supporters are collecting gift cards to restaurants near the hospital and raising money for his medical expenses. Those who want to donate to the family to help with future medical expenses can drop off gift cards to the Tank/Cheer Facility at 1733 S. Perry St. #103-106 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday. A PayPal account has also been set up at adsitfund@icloud.com.
"We always want to be able to give to those who give so much to us," Case said. "As much as he does off the job for the community, it's nice to be able to give that back to them."
A young member of the Dolphins said she hopes the community's outpouring of support assists in Adsit's recovery.
"Hopefully it cheers them up, makes them feel a little better, puts a little hope in their spirits," Bailee Flynn of the Dolphins said.
