Homesteader Cabin Outside Aspen Destroyed By Fire
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- A large homesteader cabin outside Aspen has been destroyed by fire.
The Basalt and Rural Fire Protection District says the two-story structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire Monday morning.
Basalt Fire Chief Scott Thompson says one firefighter suffered a minor knee injury.
The cabin was one of several structures on a ranch between Woody Creek and Basalt. The cabin's size was estimated at 2,500 square feet. In recent years had been used as a guest house.
The owner, Galardi Group Development LLC, says it was built in 1911 and had been renovated. Thompson described it as a homesteader cabin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but Thompson says there is no indication it was deliberately set.
