Hit-And-Run Victim May Have Clues About Suspect Driver, Vehicle
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- The family of a Fort Collins man who was severely injured in a hit and run says he's now breathing on his own and may soon be able to share information about what happened.
Investigators say just before midnight on Monday, George Taylor was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of College Ave and Spring Park Drive. The driver kept going.
Now Taylor's brother, Mario Flores, is hoping someone has information that will help find the person responsible.
"His left leg was shattered, the back bone on his right leg that was broken," Flores said.
Exactly what happened is still unclear but Flores says his brother's bike and a bag were found sitting neatly on the curb, next to where he was found.
"Why would he cross the street and leave his bike on the side of the road that's a mystery to us," he said.
Flores says his brother has had multiple surgeries in the days following the accident. Flores says it wasn't until Friday evening he was finally able to communicate with them verbally,
"It's going to take some time we've got us a long haul it's going to take several months," said Flores.
He's hopeful his brother will soon be strong enough to shed some light on what happened. In the meantime he has a message for whoever it was that left his brother behind.
"I know you're scared and you don't want to come forward but just think it could've been someone in your family, I mean it could've been one of your friends, just come forward," Flores said.
Anyone with information about Taylor, 53, is asked to contact Fort Collins police at 970.221.6540.
