High Bacteria Levels Close Chatfield Beach

LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) - The swim beach at Chatfield State Park in the south-Denver area has been closed because of high bacteria levels.

State officials say the beach was closed Thursday after routine water quality tests showed high levels of the bacteria E. coli. They say recent heavy rains and high temperatures might be the reason.

The results from new tests are expected Friday. The beach will be reopened if the bacteria levels meet state health standards.
