Heidi Glover, Colorado Mother, Remembered For Her Warmth Following Deadly Crash
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A wife and mother of four, Heidi Glover, is one of the drivers who died Thursday night following a crash at East Dry Creek Road and South Adams Street in Centennial. Investigators said the crash was the result of a crime spree that started near South Broadway and East Littleton Boulevard.
According to Littleton Police, the suspect, Desmond Dupree Stennis, 27, ran from a crash scene and carjacked a vehicle from a nearby gas station at Broadway and West Mineral Avenue. He later crashed into a car Glover was driving.
"She cheered, she was that mom that you can look at and go oh wow," Kimberly Wynn said.
Wynn tells us her kids grew up with Glover's kids, often playing sports together. Other friends CBS4 reached out to remember she was not only active in her kids' sports, but in general, yet took time to make profound connections.
"When I lost my husband four years Heidi saw me and she just gave me the biggest hug, I could feel her love and concern her hug, and she just held on to me and I need that so much in that moment and I'll never forget it," Wynn recalled.
What was most important to her was her family, but she shared her warmth with so many who came into her life.
"I didn't know exactly what happened until late last night I was just shocked," Wynn said.
An unfortunate death due to a crime spree near Broadway and East Littleton Boulevard took away the loving wife, and mom of 4 kids.
"She will be very missed," Wynn added.
A friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help Heidi's family.
A spokesperson for the Glover family shared this statement with CBS4:
Heidi will leave behind an unfillable hole. She touched the soul of everyone who crossed her path. The definition of a Mama Bear, she gave birth to four children, but was considered a second Mom to more kids than we can count. Her door was always open – day or night she provided a safe space with a listening ear, an open mind and words of wisdom. Her couch or extra bedroom were often full with someone needing a place to stay.
She was a true sports mom, working herself to the bone to make sure her kids had every opportunity to play the sports they loved. She would do anything and everything to be at every game, camp or tryout they had. At softball tournaments, you would find her still there long after her daughter was done playing, because she had to watch all of her "other kids" play.
When she wasn't watching sports, you could find her enjoying her second love – nature. The cabin and the mountains were her Heaven on Earth, and she loved hiking and walks outdoors. She had recently started a health and fitness journey and was crushing her goals while inspiring others to do the same.
Heidi's journey through life wasn't easy, but she shared her challenges and struggles to help others know they weren't alone and that she was there to help at any time. She was a strong woman – role modeling things like how to forgive, how to face adversity head on, and how to make dreams come true through hard work and perseverance. Heidi also had a love for animals – especially her dog, Bama, named after her love for University of Alabama sports, and a hidden sweet tooth – she would hide her favorites to keep them safe from her family – Oatmeal Crème Pies, Crumbl Cookies and Andy's Ice Cream were among the top.
Throughout this time, her husband, Jesse and children: Dominique, Mia, Isaac and Gage are finding comfort in the memories shared by her family and friends. They will keep close her favorite words – "I love you to the moon and back".
Stennis had a felony court date on Thursday, the day of the crash.
