'Hearty' Leadville School Remains Open Despite Furnace Issues
LEADVILLE, Colo. (CBS) - No heat didn't stop classes at Lake County High School in Leadville on Wednesday.
The "2 Mile High" town never closes school due to the cold, according to school officials.
Even though it was -29 there Wednesday morning (according to the National Weather Service) the school is open.
The furnace wasn't working, but early in the morning the maintenance crews were there working to fix it, and the heat finally came on.
It was all fine by 9 a.m.
Principal Cathy Beck told CBS4 attendance was good there on Wednesday. "We have hearty people up here," she said.
