Greeley Police Make Arrests In Two Recent Crime Sprees

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) – Greeley police have arrested two men believed to be involved with three recent auto thefts, an armed robbery and fraud.

Robert Drake and Bobby Ray Denton were arrested by members of the police department's Special Enforcement Team and Property Crimes Unit on Friday.

The first auto theft was reported at around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 20.

Approximately 30 minutes later the stolen vehicle was used in an armed robbery at a gas station.

The two are also being charged with stealing two other vehicles a few days later.

They are also accused of using a stolen debit card from one of the vehicles to make fraudulent purchases.

On Friday Drake and Denton were observed in one of the stolen vehicles by authorities and both men were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

Drake is facing three counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, aggravated robbery, menacing, eluding an officer, identity theft, and four counts of theft.

Denton is facing two counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, menacing, aggravated robbery and theft.

They are currently being held at the Weld County Jail.

In a second unrelated spree two juvenile males have been charged with seven commercial burglaries that happened in December.

The total of damages to the businesses is more than $4,000 and the loss from thefts exceeds $1,600.

Each juvenile is facing charges of eight counts of second degree burglary, criminal mischief, and theft.
