Grass Fire Burns 1,200 Acres On Fort Carson Army Post

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters rushed to a grass fire burning on land at the Fort Carson Army Post on Saturday.

The fire burned about 1,200 acres on the campus of the Army post, located south of Colorado Springs. The fire was 65 percent contained Sunday evening.

The flames had not threatened any structures on the military property but fire crews have requested air support. Firefighters burned a fire line to keep the flames from spreading south.

What started the fire has not been determined. Conditions are dry and windy which hampered efforts to keep the fire contained.
