Gov. Appoints Gonzales To 12th Judicial District

DENVER (AP) -- Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed Alamosa County Court Judge Michael Anthony Gonzalez to serve as a 12th Judicial District judge.

The district serves Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande and Saguache counties.

Gonzales' appointment fills a vacancy created by the retirement of District Judge O. John Kuenhold.

Hickenlooper's office said Friday the appointment is effective Oct. 1.

Gonzales has served as chief deputy district attorney in the 12th district and as an adjunct professor at Trinidad State College. He is a graduate of Creighton University and the University of Colorado.
