Golf Tourney To Raise Money For Army Vet Fighting Cancer

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - A fundraiser golf tournament has been organized for an Army veteran in Littleton who is struggling with an incurable form of cancer.

Frank Hamblen was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in August 2010. He has a type of cancer called carcinoid, which is extremely rare. It has encompassed his
entire liver with hundreds of tumors.

The right treatment could improve his quality of life.

Hamblen, 36, is married with three young children. He is unemployed and doesn't have insurance. So to raise $30,000 to begin treatment, friends have organized a golf tournament.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the tournament. The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 17 at the Raccoon Creek Golf Course in Littleton.

A $125 entrance fee per player includes donation, green fee, cart and dinner. Silent and live auctions will follow the tournament.
