Glendale Holds Emergency Meeting To Discuss Opting Out Of Mask Mandate
GLENDALE, Colo. (CBS4) - Glendale called an emergency meeting for Tuesday to discuss partially opting out of a recent mask order instituted by the Tri-County Health Department.
That order takes effect July 24. Douglas County announced it started the process of leaving the agency and creating its own health department.
Specifically at issue was a clause which states you must only dine with household members. The discussion opened up for public comment which included some angry about the mandate and others asking the city to keep it.
"You have a 70-year tradition of fighting for Glendale and fighting for the citizens and fighting for the businesses and I ask you to live up to that commitment," one constituent said.
"You should be big enough and smart enough and brave enough to know that your customers will come back when you require masks, that's the only way this nightmare of a pandemic is over, and it's the only way our customers are coming back," another constituent countered.
In the end, city officials held their vote until next week.
