Fracking May Be Put On Hold In Commerce City
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - All fracking operations may be put on hold for 6 months in Commerce City.
The city council will consider a moratorium to temporarily limit the process that extracts oil and gas from the ground. A spokeswoman says it will give the city time to review the impacts of fracking on air and groundwater.
The proposed moratorium comes after fracking operations began near the Reunion development last month. People in the area were upset they weren't notified beforehand.
The operation is outside the city limits and would not be affected if the moratorium passes.
