Fort Collins Fugitive Arrested, Deputy Injured During Scuffle
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- A fugitive wanted for several outstanding warrants was arrested after a short chase and scuffle with Larimer County Sheriff's deputies.
James Gregory Forsythe of Fort Collins was spotted by deputies at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday in the 3600 block of East Mulberry. While waiting for additional deputies to arrive, Forsythe, 30, was spotted near the vehicle.
As deputies approached him he began to flee. As deputies caught up with him, he fought with them, resisting arrest.
During the course of the struggle deputies used an electronic control device to try to control Forsythe. He continued to fight with deputies until additional officers arrived and helped subdue him.
One deputy suffered minor injuries during the arrest. He was treated and released.
At the time he was taken into custody, Forsythe had multiple active warrants for his arrest including failure to appear for harrasment, failure to appear for protection order violation and failure to appear for possession of burglary tools.
Suspected methamphetamine was found on Forsythe when he was arrested.
The new charges for Forsythe include obstructing, resisting arrest, 3rd degree assault, possession of schedule 2 narcotics and tampering with evidence.
Forsythe is being held at the Larimer County Jail on $10,000 bond for the new charges. Bond for the existing warrants is $5,500.
