Former Nuggets Great 'Fat' Lever Honored, Misses Playing

DENVER (CBS4) - Former Denver Nuggets star Lafayette "Fat" Lever was honored during halftime at Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lafayette "Fat" Lever was a 6-foot-3 point guard. He had 46 triple doubles during his Nuggets career from 1984 to 1990 and is the franchise's all-time leader in steals and second in assists.

Lever averaged 17 points a game. The Nuggets made the playoffs during all six of his seasons in Denver.

Lever attended the Nuggets shoot around on Wednesday morning where he talked about why the Nuggets hold a special place in his memory.

"A tremendous, tremendous experience for me being back and seeing what I really miss. That's the Nuggets. I watch them from a distance on TV, most of the games where they play. I'm very familiar with a lot of the players so to see what's going on now, good, bad and indifferent, I'm still a fan. I enjoy watching the Nuggets play," said Lever.
