Former CBS4 Weather Man Larry Green Has A Scare In Alabama
FAIRHOPE, Ala. (CBS4) - Larry Green, the former weather forecaster for CBS4, had several anxious moments this week after the reports came in from Alabama's Mobile Bay about the fatal crash of a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.
The MH-65C helicopter crashed Tuesday evening near Point Clear, Ala.
One crew member was found unresponsive and later declared dead, the Coast Guard said. Three others remain missing.
Green has been living in Alabama since his retirement from CBS4 in 2006. His son is stationed at Coast Guard Mobile and is a flight mechanic who often flies on their helicopter missions.
Green says his son recently changed shifts, and he was immediately worried that he might have been on the helicopter when it went down. Soon afterwards Green got a text from his son saying he was okay and not involved in the crash.
Green's son is assisting with the recovery of the aircraft from the Gulf of Mexico.
