Forest Service Considers Motorcycle Trail Proposal
SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (AP) - The U.S. Forest Service is considering a proposal to create a roughly 30-mile single-track trail system in the White River National Forest for motorcycles.
The plan for about 15 miles of new trail and about 15 miles of reconstructed trails is to create a managed system of trails rather than having users create their own.
The Tenderfoot Mountain trail proposal encompasses about 4,000 acres near the town of Dillon. Construction would take three to six years and could start in June.
The Forest Service says there would be no motorized use during the elk calving season, and steps would be taken to protect habitat for greenback cutthroat trout.
The public can submit comments on the proposal by Nov. 20.
