Firefighters Quickly Get Handle On Brush Fire In Littleton
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - West Metro fire crews were mopping up a brush fire in Littleton Saturday evening.
The 1 1/12 acre fire burned near several apartment buildings Saturday afternoon. Firefighters say the the blaze is a good reminder how dry it is this time of year.
"The fact that most people aren't thinking about wildfires this time of year, and it is rarer than what we might see in the summer, but it certainly happens," Gary Armstrong with West Metro Fire Rescue said. "Right now the fuels are pretty dry as we can see by the fire behavior this afternoon.
"Fortunately the wind wasn't bad at all, it certainly could have been a much more challenging fire for our agency."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
