EZ Pawn Robbed, Police Capture Both Suspects, Recover Gun
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lakewood captured two suspects wanted in a pawn shop robbery early Monday morning. Officers also recovered a gun.
Officers in Denver helped with the search for the suspects in the robbery at the EZ Pawn at 1355 S. Sheridan near Sheridan and Florida. The robbery happened shortly after the store opened. There were two employees inside but no customers.
Police say they each had a handgun but didn't take anything.
"We did recover one gun in the alley behind the business which we strongly suspect is associated with at least one suspect," said Lakewood Police Officer Steve Hipwell. "We did recover the one weapon and they were both initially armed."
The suspects took off into a neighborhood. A witness told CBS4 she saw two men run through the yard and called 911.
Police searched a nearby neighborhood along Arkansas near Chase for the thieves. Two men matching the suspect descriptions were arrested about a mile away at 9:35 a.m. about 45 minutes after the robbery.
Brady Exploration School was placed in lockout status during the search.
