Ex-Karval Teacher Must Register As Sex Offender
HUGO, Colo. (AP) - A former teacher in Karval has been sentenced to spend 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a sexual assault on one of his students.
Prosecutors said Thursday that 27-year-old Andrew Phillip McCollum has been sentenced to 10 years of sex offender intensive supervision probation and must register as a sex offender. The jail term was a condition of his probation. The former Karval School teacher pleaded guilty in June to unlawful sexual contact and attempted sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
Meanwhile, former Karval School Superintendent Martin Adams has been fined $1,000 for improperly disclosing the school records of McCollum's victim. He had pleaded guilty to first-degree official misconduct.
