Officer Shoots Suspect In Swedish Medical Center Parking Garage
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Englewood were involved in a shooting at Swedish Medical Center on Wednesday morning. An officers shot a suspect in the parking garage at the hospital.
Englewood police rushed to the parking garage near East Hampden Avenue and South Washington Street about 7:45 a.m. on reports of an occupied stolen vehicle. When officers arrived, they located the stolen vehicle.
During an interaction, one of the suspects, a 26-year-old female, was shot by police and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A second suspect, a 35-year-old male, was taken into custody.
This is the eighth officer-involved shooting in eight days in Colorado. The first in this recent string was Jan. 9 in Pueblo, followed by Jan. 10 in Westminster, Jan. 12 in Fort Collins, the same day there was one in Colorado Springs, on Jan. 13 in Pueblo County, Jan. 14 in Frisco, Jan. 15 in Aurora, and Wednesday in Englewood.
There was another officer-involved shooting in Fort Lupton on Wednesday afternoon, pushing that to nine officer-involved shooting in eight days in Colorado.
No officers were hurt. The shooting remains under investigation. The parking garage was cordoned off during the investigation. Operations at Swedish Medical Center continued as normal.
