El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa Announces He'll Resign
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A controversial Colorado sheriff is stepping down.
Embattled El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa announced Thursday he will leave office on Dec. 31, which is two weeks before the end of his term.
Earlier this year an independent investigation found Maketa had inappropriate relationships with three female subordinates, but he had previously refused to resign until now.
Maketa will be replaced by Bill Elder.
