3.9 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Southern Colorado Overnight
TRINIDAD, Colo. (CBS4) - An earthquake shook southern Colorado late Wednesday night.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey office in Golden, the 3.9 magnitude quake hit 23 miles west of Trinidad at 11:14 p.m. It was originally measured at 4.2 but was revised by the USGS a few hours later.
There is no word of damage or injuries in the area.

Southern Colorado resident Monika Maes wrote on Facebook that she slept through the earthquake.
This is the first earthquake with a magnitude of 4 or higher reported in Colorado this year. An earthquake was reported in El Paso County in southern Colorado in mid-January, but it turned out to be a false report.
In 2011 an earthquake that was also near Trinidad caused damage to homes and businesses and triggered a rock slide. It was measured at magnitude 5.3 and was the largest in Colorado since the 1960s. See CBS4's archive report below:
A string of approximately 200 small earthquakes took place in 2013 and 2014 in Weld County, with a wastewater injection well being blamed as a cause.
