Police Want Help Identifying Suspects In Drone Theft From Hobby Store

By Stan Bush

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Aurora police are looking for two men and a female driver who stole a high-end drone from a store on Monday.

The two male suspects were recorded on surveillance cameras running out of the store with three boxes. Employees chased them to a parking lot and recovered one of the drones. The thieves got away with a drone valued at $1,400. The other box was empty.

"I think in this case they had a genuine interest," said Andrew Jones, Manager of Remote Control Hobbies in Aurora. "I think they're going to use it for themselves, but they could very easily turn it around for cash."

The suspects are two white men in their late 20s. They're described as skinny and about 6 feet tall. Their getaway driver is a white brunette woman who allegedly has a piercing between her nose and upper lip. She was driving a gold 1990s era Honda Accord with temporary plates. The vehicle had a temporary license plate displayed in the upper left corner of the rear window and possibly started with the characters "NY" or "N2."

"One witness stated the driver almost hit them in the parking lot as they fled the scene after committing the theft of a drone," Aurora police said in a statement.

Jones said a similar theft happened at a store in Littleton as well.
