Driver Killed When Semi Hauling Eggs Overturns On I-25

WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4) – A man has died after the tractor-trailer he was driving overturned on Interstate 25 near Windsor.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the semi carrying a load of eggs traveling northbound rolled over in the median of I-25 just south of the Windsor exit north of Loveland.

The driver, whose name hasn't been released, was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he died from his injuries.

One lane each way was blocked for more than an hour, but has since reopened.

Because of the egg spill, the health department had to be called in to make sure nothing hazardous spilled.

A Hazmat team was also called due to a 50-gallon diesel fuel spill.

It's not clear what caused the crash, but Nate Reid with the State Patrol doesn't think high winds were a factor.
