Dog Attack Victim Urges Owners To Come Forward
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - An Aurora woman who was attacked last week by two vicious dogs is urging the owners of those dogs to come forward.
Margie Stout was walking her small dog on Friday morning in the Louisiana Purchase neighborhood, located near Mississippi and Tower roads, when she and her dog were attacked by the loose dogs.
"They just kept biting, biting and kept biting," Stout told CBS4 on Monday. "It was the most terrifying thing I've even been through."
Neighbors came to her aid during the attack and two were bitten and injured by the dogs. All three people who were attacked had to be taken to the hospital.
Stout's small dog, named Boo, remains at a local animal hospital and veterinarians there says they are cautiously optimistic about its chances of survival.
The two violent dogs ran off after the attacks and were apparently both hit and killed by a car at E-470 and 64th. A trooper with the Colorado State Patrol found the dogs' bodies on Saturday.
Aurora Animal Care Officers are continuing to investigate in an attempt to identify the owners of the dogs, which were at least partly pit bull. Stout says she's furious with whomever owned the dogs.
"How could you let your dogs do this to someone and not take ownership? Besides the financials were facing right now, they hurt three people," she said. "Those dogs were running wild."
Stout had to spend more than two days in the hospital after getting bitten more than 20 times. She can barely move from the pain of injuries that span her whole body and has to undergo skin grafts.
"There are puncture wounds on my right arm and hand. My left hand took the worst of it. There are 20 centimeters with lacerations," she said.
If they are located, the dog owners could face serious charges, including having a vicious dog.
"They got the taste of blood when they got my arm and I think they were determined. I was trying to crawl on the grass to get away from them."
