Deputies Free Bear After Animal Destroys Inside Of SUV
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A bear that was trapped inside an SUV in Jefferson County was freed by deputies after it destroyed the inside of the vehicle.
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Tillman and McLaughlin were not sure how the bear ended up locked inside the car. No windows were broken and the door handles were not the kind that lift up.
Somehow the bear managed to get inside and then became trapped.
"Honestly, I thought he was probably gone, but all of the windows were shut and the doors were shut and he still in the back looking at us. We I think surprised him more than he surprised us," Tillman said.
Deputies say based on the moisture that was on the windows, the animal was likely inside a while.
Deputies had to pop open the hatch and the bear ran back into the forest.
The Subaru suffered a lot of damage.
