Denver Snow Crews Ready For Winter

DENVER (CBS4)- With snow in the forecast for next week, Denver Public Works said their crews are ready for an early blast of winter.

The city has 68 plows to treat main streets, those are classified as the ones with stripes to separate traffic.

For the residential side streets, 90 pickup trucks with plows attached can be deployed.

Those will be rolled out only when there's at least 12 inches of snow and prolonged freezing temperatures.

"If there's one message that we send to people going forward, that is one, to understand there is a plan in place and two, we need folks to be a good neighbor," said Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.

Hancock said that means checking on elderly or disabled neighbors during major snowstorms and clearing your sidewalk of snow as soon as possible.
