Teenage Girl Killed, 1 injured In Shooting Near Homes At 19th Ave, Tamarac In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Police Department responded to a deadly shooting near homes at East 19th Avenue and Tamarac Street early Friday. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner says a 14-year-old girl died after being shot.

The office identified her as Aerris Mayberry.

According to DPD's Twitter account, police responded to the shooting around 2:25 a.m. Two people were found with gunshot injuries. Police say an unidentified boy was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Copter4 was above the a still-active shooting investigation close to 6:30 a.m.

"I actually had headphones on, and I heard gunshots going off through my headphones. I took my headphones off and stuck my head out the door to see if I could see anything, and five minutes later the whole block was lit up with sirens," said one neighbor.

This scene was west of Greenway Off Leash Dog Park.
