Denver Public Schools Unveils Plan To Improve Student Achievement

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Public Schools has unveiled a plan for improving student achievement over the next five years.

The "Denver Plan 2020" has five goals. The most significant calls for 80 percent of all students in every neighborhood to be attending a high-performing school by 2020.

The first Denver Plan was launched in 2005. Denver Public Schools believe this plan will help students even more.

"We are acutely aware of how far we need to go and how hard we need to work to truly achieve our vision of every child succeeding," said Denver Public Schools Board of Education member Anne Rowe.

Other goals include improving the four year graduation rate to 90 percent and making sure 80 percent of Denver Public Schools third graders are performing at grade level in reading and writing.
