December Plane Crash Near Loveland Ruled A Suicide
LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - A small plane crash near Loveland that killed a 50-year-old man has been ruled a suicide but it's not clear why.
Charles Cullum of Lyons was the sole occupant of his Cessna 210B when it crashed Dec. 27 in a mountainous area near Carter Lake.
The Longmont Times-Call reported Friday that the coroner concluded the death was a suicide.
The report obtained by the newspaper refers to the "investigative record" for details. But county and federal investigative reports haven't been released and won't be until the National Transportation Safety Board investigation is closed.
A preliminary NTSB report said Cullum radioed controllers about an hour after he took off from Boulder that he was losing "elevator control".
