Commerce City Police Investigate Deadly Shooting, Potential Robbery

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Commerce City are investigating a deadly shooting and what they're calling a "potential robbery" at a small store in a strip mall.

The shooting happened at about 3 p.m. at a strip mall near 64th and Ivy. The store, Joyeria Alondra, is a Mexican boutique that sells hats, boots and jewelry.

One person was shot during what police believe was a potential robbery. The shooting victim, identified as Bernardo Saenz-Perches, 44, was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center and died a short time later.

Neighbors told CBS4 the shop owner was the shooting victim.

Police haven't confirmed if Saenz-Perches was an employee, customer or would-be robber.

They are looking for two men seen leaving the area but don't have a good description.

Detectives hope to examine two surveillance cameras outside of the store. They aren't sure if the cameras captured the incident or whether they were actually working when the shooting happened.
