Commerce City Has Big Plans For Old Dog Park
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4)-Commerce City has purchased the Mile High Greyhound Park with plans to redevelop the property.
The track opened in 1949 but hasn't hosted any dog races in more than three years.
Commerce City's Urban Renewal Authority paid $3.3 million for the 65 acre site.
"The former Mile High Greyhound Park will be developed into something great, to benefit businesses, communities and neighborhoods alike. All our citizens will find a home here," said Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale.
The city hopes to see a mixed-use development at the former dog park and companies that move there will qualify for tax credits.
A final plan for the site will be finished by May 2012.
