Colorado Gets $7.5M To Help Struggling Schools

DENVER (AP) - Colorado education officials say the state has received $7.5 million in federal funds to help chronically low-performing school districts.

School districts and local education agencies can apply for funds. Recipients will work with the Colorado Department of Education on plans to boost performance.

The funds will go to the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools in the state. Performance will be measured in part by state assessments.

Districts can request up to $2 million per year over the three-year grant period.
