Close Call For Hiker On Lookout Mountain
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- It was a close call for a hiker on Lookout Mountain on Thursday.
Rick Macey slipped on some ice near Chimney Gulch Trail and thought he was about to go over a cliff.
Macey, 49, was able to call 911 and cling to a rock while he waited for help. His fellow hiker got to him first and secured him until rescuers arrived.
Rescuers found Macey by using technology called Geo-Linx to pinpoint his location.
Macey believes rescuers saved the day, "I just fell on some ice and I was near a ledge. I thought I might go over but it turned out these guys got here fast and here I am."
Macey did suffer a few sprains but was able to walk off the mountain himself.
