Civic Center Park Celebrates 'Bike To Work Day'
DENVER (CBS4) - Thousands have made the pledge to participate in Denver's Bike To Work Day, the second largest in the nation.
Civic Center Park welcomed vendors, services, and food Wednesday morning to celebrate the biking community and educate commuters.
Denver Public Works says it's committed to making improvements to the city's biking infrastructure, including the Lincoln-Broadway corridor, installation of bike parking, protected bike lanes, signage and bicycle detection.
At the event Wednesday, riders can get a free tune for their bike, register with Denver police to help prevent bike theft, learn about safe bike routes to school, and even try out an electric bike through Pedego E-Bikes.
Tour De Cure is offering free registration, which usually costs $25. Waterproof bike maps of the city can be picked up, showing all of Denver's routes.
Bike To Work Day also serves to promote bicycles as a mode of transportation, encouraging sustainable living.
Cities across Colorado are expecting 34,000 people for today's events.
