Church Volunteer Suspected Of Sex Assault On Child In Loveland
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Loveland are investigating a church volunteer for sexual assault on a child.
Robert Kirchhoff, 54, is in jail for sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. Loveland police are not releasing the booking photo of Kirchhoff, but they say he was a volunteer at Resurrection Fellowship, a large church in Loveland.
The senior pastor at the church says Kirchhoff had been a volunteer at in the pre-teen ministry for about the past year. He said when word of the investigation came from police late last week Kirchhoff was removed from his volunteer duties.
The pastor says both the sexual assault suspect and the alleged victim attend church at Resurrection Fellowship, although police say they don't have any evidence the alleged assault happened at the church.
Kirchhoff is being held at the Larimer County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
There is concern that there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact Loveland police.
