Police in Boulder confiscated $17,000 in counterfeit cash and methamphetamine after a failed traffic stop. It started when an officer checked the temporary tag on a Nissan.

Those tags didn't have any vehicle information associated with them and the officer tried to stop the car. The driver took off and police used "Flock" technology to find the vehicle but again, the driver took off.

A short time later the officer received a call that the Nissan had returned to the same neighborhood. That's when the officer, along with a drone operator, coordinated to conduct surveillance on the vehicle. As they watched, one suspect got into an Audi and began to drive away while the other suspect drove away in the Nissan.

That's when multiple officers moved in and took everyone into custody.

The Nissan driver was charged with eluding police and obstruction of a police officer. A passenger in the Nissan was found with methamphetamine and issued a juvenile referral for unlawful possession of narcotics.

The driver of the Audi gave police a fake name but officers were able to identify him and learned he had a felony failure to appear warrant for motor vehicle theft. When officers searched the Audi, they found a "realistic BB gun as well as brass knuckles. That's also when they found the $17,000 in counterfeit $100 bills."

The suspect was charged with criminal impersonation and possession of an illegal weapon before he was taken to jail.
