Boulder Officer Among 2 Arrested Guard Members
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - One of the two Colorado Army National Guard members arrested by federal authorities last week is a Boulder police officer accused of stealing two Army-issued assault rifle silencers while serving as a staff sergeant with the National Guard in Fort Lupton.
Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner told the Daily Camera on Wednesday that 33-year-old patrol officer Eric Shunglik Lee is on unpaid leave pending an internal investigation.
Lee was arrested Oct. 25 with 25-year-old Spc. Matthew Colin Laflin following a monthlong investigation by federal agents.
Federal court documents allege Lee stole the silencers and gave them to Laflin, who is accused of selling them to an informant working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Both pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges against them.
