Braiding bread and community: Hundreds turn out for Great Big Challah Bake at the Boulder Jewish Community Center
Challah is a braided bread made with eggs that's often eaten on the Jewish Sabbath and holidays. The Sabbath takes place from sundown Friday to sundown on Saturday.
The Boulder Jewish Community Center held its Great Big Challah Bake this month, and hundreds of enthusiastic Colorado dough rollers attended.
The JCC's Executive Director Jonathan Lev said, "The Challah Bake is all about joy. It really brings so much energy and love to this community. It's an event that happens all over the world that the Boulder JCC is part of. It's an incredible night. Three hundred people come together and bake challah."
The JCC partnered with Moe's Broadway Bagels to give challah to people in the community who're experiencing food insecurity.
