BLM Begins Gathering Wild Horses On Western Slope
RANGELY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Bureau of Land Management started rounding up wild horses on the far reaches of the Western Slope on Sunday.
The BLM says there's not enough water to maintain a healthy herd in the West Douglas Herd Area south of Rangely.
The horses have been there for centuries according to wild horse advocates and they want to keep them wild.
The horses are healthy, according to witnesses who wrote CBS4, but the BLM says because of the dry conditions this year normal streams and water sources are dry. They claim the horses will die if left in that location.
