Top Specialty Pet Stores Around Denver

Certainly you can find everything you need (and more) for your pet at PetCo, PetSmart and Target, but the trend toward locally-owned, high-end pet supply stores continues to thrive. Among the best are Dog Savvy, Green Claws and Paws, Sixth Avenue Pet Source, Quality Paws, Smooch the Pooch and Chewy's Bonetique.

Dog Savvy, Doggie Boutique and Spa

1402 Larimer St.
Denver, CO 80202
(303) 623-5200
www.DogSavvy.com

You won't find a bargain bag of Pedigree® here, but you will find the darn cutest collars, harnesses and leashes you've ever seen. As with most all pet stores, your pooch is welcome, just be prepared for tight corners. This adorable shop is cozy. As the name implies, Dog Savvy specializes in dog grooming and dog products only.

Green Claws and Paws

1299 Washington Ave
Golden, CO 80401
303-279-2550
www.thegoldengreenpaw.com

A dog and cat pet store that specializes in eco-friendly products and food. If you want to take Fighto for a hike through the muddy trails on Lookout Mountain, keep this place in mind. They're located in the center of Downtown Golden and they have a self-service wash in the back. Visit the website and click on the coupons section for occasional deals, too.

Sixth Avenue Pet Source

810 E 6th Avenue
Denver, CO 80218
(303) 733-6410
www.sixthavepetsource.com

No doubt you've driven by Sixth Avenue Pet Source near Clarkson Street and marveled at the green and purple building. Many have come to depend on the shop that offers up products for both cats and dogs, because of their generosity in giving pet care tips and advice. "I brought my dog home from the shelter and had no idea what kind of food to get," Michele Raczka told CBS 4 recently. "They set out samples of a few different kinds and we figured out what she liked together. So nice."

Quality Paws

46 Broadway
Denver, CO 80203
303-778-PAWS
www.QualityPaws.com

Cat and dog lovers alike will certainly feel at home in Broadway's Quality Paws. While you are stocking up on high-quality, natural pet food and pet gear, you might be tempted to cuddle one of the homeless kittens available for adoption. Quality Paws stocks its shelves with a few locally-made products.

Smooch the Pooch

3624 E Highlands Ranch Pkwy, Ste 204
Littleton, CO 80126
303-346-8009
www.smooch-thepooch.com

The next time you want your dog to have a hair color treatment, you'll know where to go. Smooch the Pooch in Highlands Ranch doesn't just groom-they specialize in Posh Doggie Couture. This boutique doesn't carry much in the way of pet food or pet accessories, but they will do a full color treatment for your furry friend.

Chewy's Bonetique

200 Quebec Street Bldg 600119
Denver, CO 80230
303-Dig-Bone
www.chewysbonetique.com

With a name like Chewy's Bonetique, who wouldn't want to get their dog bones and supplies here? Set in the Lowry Town Center for almost seven years, this dog and cat pet store offers self-service bathing and bath and brush services. The bath facilities are set up to accommodate large and elderly dogs that may have special needs. "We don't just want to sell a product and send them on their way," said Heather Manfre, store manager. "We want the dog to thrive and have a nice quality of life." Heather explained that they're happy to help customers to decide what food is best for their pet's sensitive allergies and digestive systems.
