Aurora Police Shoot Man During Standoff
DENVER (AP/CBS4) — An investigation is underway after police shot a man who pointed a shotgun at them during a standoff in the Denver suburb of Aurora.
Police Sgt. Chris Amsler says a woman called 911 at about 5 a.m. Sunday to report that a man with a shotgun was in her front yard in the 1700 block of Jamaica Street. When officers arrived, they found the man in a vehicle a few blocks away from the home.
Amsler says the man, whose name has not been released, drove back to the home and held police at bay for about 45 minutes. He was shot when he pointed the gun at police.
The man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Amsler did not say where the suspect was hit.
