New Details In Deadly Aurora Hit & Run

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora are searching for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run. It happened Sunday shortly after 2:30 a.m. near East 1st Ave. and Havana Street.

When officers arrived, they found Royce Wallace, 41, lying in the street about 500 feet south of 1st Ave. He was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and died about 5:45 a.m.

Officers believe Wallace was struck by a vehicle while he was crossing Havana near the intersection of 1st Ave. Police determined that the vehicle was traveling southbound when Wallace was struck.

The vehicle left the scene. Police believe Wallace was left in the street until the person who found him called 911.

On Monday a person contacted police and said they had information about the suspect vehicle. The person indicated the vehicle was a large white sedan with damage to the left front and driver's side windshield. The witness provided additional information that is not being released at this time.

It is not known how long the collision occurred before Wallace was found.

"We're going to find you because what you did wasn't right. My baby didn't ever do wrong to nobody -- nobody," Wallace's mother Debra McClain said.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Det. Ken Giger at (303) 739-6994.
