Aurora Police Called To Control Crowds Waiting For Air Jordan Shoes

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora were called to the Aurora Town Center early Friday morning to help with crowd control. People lined up to be the first to buy new Air Jordan 11 Retro Concords.

Copter4 flew over police cars parked outside the mall just after 7 a.m. There were no reports of any injuries in the crowd but shop owners wanted the extra patrols as a precaution.

The frenzy over the shoes has caused some strange situations nationwide. Crowds topping 1,500 people in Indianapolis trampled two shoppers and the front doors to the mall were ripped off the hinges.

The white shoes with patent leather accents are identical to the original Air Jordans released 15 years ago when Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan was at the height of his basketball fame.
