Army: Soldier Killed In Fort Carson Barracks Had Been Stabbed
DENVER (AP) — Army investigators say a soldier found dead in her barracks at a Colorado infantry post had been stabbed, but they haven't yet released the cause of death.
The body of 28-year-old Brandy Fonteneaux of Houston was discovered Jan. 8 at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs.
Family members were quoted previously as saying Fonteneaux had been stabbed, but the Army Criminal Investigation Command didn't confirm that until Tuesday.
A spokesman for the investigation says an autopsy was conducted Jan. 9 but the results haven't been released. The spokesman declined to say whether anyone has been arrested.
Funeral services for Fonteneaux were held Monday in Houston.
Fonteneaux held the rank of specialist and had been in the Army two years. She was a food operations specialist in the 4th Engineer Battalion.
