Armed Robbers Target NFL Player Derrick Martin's Aurora Home
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Two masked gunmen stormed the Aurora home of an NFL player on Sunday.
Derrick Martin was playing with his team the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass., on Sunday night when the home invasion happened at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Aurora police say several people, including children, were in the home at the time watching the game. The house is located in the 24700 block of East Irish Drive
The men were wearing masks and had handguns. They forced their way into the home, quickly ransacked the house and fled with numerous valuable items. Scanner traffic information indicated they drove off in an SUV.
Police said it's not clear if Martin was targeted or if it was a random home invasion. It's also unknown if the thieves stole Martin's two Super Bowl rings. He got one when he played with the Packers and one when he played with New England the next year.
No one was hurt in the crime.
Since the suspects were wearing masks police said they don't have a very good description to go on at this point.
Martin played football at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver. He remains very active in the community, hosting a football camp for kids each summer.
