Arapahoe County Deputy Injured By Dry Ice Bomb
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - The Arapahoe County sheriff is asking for help finding the teens who made a dry ice bomb that injured a deputy.
Deputies answered a call of gun shots in the 8200 block of South Newport Court in Centennial just before midnight Monday. One found what appeared to be a dry ice bomb inside a plastic bottle. Pieces of jagged plastic hit the deputy in the face, barely missing his eye.
The deputy has been treated and released for his injuries.
Some people in the neighborhood say it was just a prank gone bad, but police say it's a felony.
"I'd love to know who did this, that's the bottom line. They need to be held accountable for their actions because it's put the community at risk, put our officers at risk, obviously, and we'd love some help identifying some suspects," Undersheriff Dave Walcher with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department said.
A witness saw several teens getting out of a newer import car and leaving some bottles in the street.
A reward has been offered for information.
