Arapahoe County Deputies Have A New Look After 60 Years
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - They've been wearing the same uniform for more than 60 years, but now the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is changing its look.
On Sunday the sheriff's office officially changed their uniform from blue to black, but new colors aren't the only change. The deputies' new patch also reflects Arapahoe's history as the first sheriff's office in Colorado.
The shirts also have built-in reflective material that can be used in the dark for safety.
"The new uniform will give deputies a more recognizable look as law enforcement personnel, and a look that is consistent with other agencies in the area," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
It's not only a more modern look but more cost-effective as well. The change saves taxpayers about $167 per uniform.
"Our deputies will wear the new uniform and patch with pride and look forward to continuing their great service to the community as we head into the next 60 years."
