Memorial & March Planned For Boy Shot To Death In Aurora
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Aurora police continue to question witnesses after the deadly shooting of a 10-year-old boy. A memorial and march are planned for Monday evening.
Anthony Jemel Hemmings-Taylor was visiting his mother in her new apartment when he was shot to death Friday night. His grandfather, Anthony Taylor, dropped the boy off earlier in the day. He says he doesn't know what happened but he does have a message.
"If you have guns in the house. Please put them in a safe, put them in lock boxes and put them in a place where children can't get them and think it's a toy because this is what happens," he said.
Monday at 6 p.m. a memorial and march will be held in honor of Hemmings-Taylor at the City of Aurora MLK Library which is located at 9898 East Colfax Avenue. Following the vigil there will be a march to the area of East 16th Avenue and North Galena Street. Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz and other representatives from the Aurora Police Department will be attendance.
The Aurora Police Department will be assisting with traffic control for the march which could result in slight traffic delays on East Colfax Avenue as the march passes through the area.
