1 Dead In Plane Crash Near Carter Lake
LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say one person is dead after a single-engine aircraft went down near Carter Lake west of Loveland.
Larimer County Sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the crash Monday afternoon ignited a small grass fire that has since been extinguished. The name of the person killed was not released and officials did not say whether others were injured.
Loveland Fire and Rescue Division Chief Merlin Green says authorities didn't immediately know how many people were on board. He says the aircraft went down in a rugged, mountainous area. He says it was partly cloudy and dry, with temperatures in the 40s at the time of the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
